5.0 out of 5 starsI’ve been interested in trying pottery with a wheel for a while and have almost pulled the trigger on signing up for classes which is hundreds of dollars. This is a great way to try out the craft without investing a lot of money. This wheel comes with everything that would would need and is good for adults trying out the craft as well as kids who are exploring their creativity. I can see my son trying this when he’s older too (he’s 5 right now) I love that it has the arm too to help get your pottery more symmetrical. I would recommend this product to others.

1.0 out of 5 starsI know it wasn’t the most expensive potters wheel but it wasn’t the cheapest either. How do you get in touch with National Geographic customer service to possibly fix this. It won’t power up at the unit push button but have power at the inverter.

1.0 out of 5 starsSo you need water to work with clay. After 5 uses water got in where the plug goes and it no longer works

1.0 out of 5 starsThe package was damaged, the wheelhead wobbles and parts were missing

3.0 out of 5 starsBought as a gift for my wife to try out pottery. The ad said like new. It had dried mud still on the wheel and was missing several pieces that were supposed to be in there. I was a bit disappointed. I wish I had purchased a new one.

5.0 out of 5 starsUnfortunately I had to return it, just about broke my heart because I’m an old artist that has worked with clay many years ago and thought this would be fun to try again, however, through the years my hands have a lot of arthritis, and it is very painful–I can only imagine how much fun it would be, when I looked in the box could see so many pieces to use and work with. If your hands are strong, go for it, you will love it.

5.0 out of 5 starsIt’s as close to a real pottery wheel as you could ask for without spending a fortune and 10 year is able to use it unsupervised which is exactly what I was hoping for

5.0 out of 5 starsSuper fun and easy to use. Endless possibilities for creative kids and grown ups. Comes with instructions which were very helpful. The clay is good too, for beginners anyway.

5.0 out of 5 starsI purchased it for my granddaughter who can barely get it away from her mom. One of these days, I’ll get a chance.

4.0 out of 5 starsMy daughter and I are both interested in pottery. We have a smaller kids pottery wheel for her. I thought this wheel would be good for me/her to use at home. This is more heavy duty than I was thinking it would be. Especially compared to her kid wheel. It does come with everything you need to get started; including clay, the tools, etc.Setting it up is not hard, just follow the instructions. I found it does take up some space to leave it out. So after I wash it, I take it apart and put it back in the box since we aren’t using it all the time. My daughter of course wanted to use the tool arm since her wheel doesn’t have one. Let’s just say art projects with mom end up being stressful and not as much fun for both of us.Read those instructions. you don’t want to put clay water down your drain. So make sure you are using a bucket to wash the parts off.

3.0 out of 5 starsThis wheel worked great the first time. The next day, it wouldn’t work. I bought it for my 16 yo old daughter who has done ceramics for 1.5 years at school so she is familiar with their use. The green light turns on in the power supply but wheel won’t turn on anymore. We can’t figure it out. Hopefully I can return it. I assume it’s just a weird manufacturing glitch since all the reviews here are high.

5.0 out of 5 starsUnfortunately, I have not been able to test this pottery wheel kit that I got for my wife yet. However, from the packaging to quality of the items in the box, I feel quite confident it was a good decision to get it. My wife was thrilled. Instructions and videos available makes it simple (maybe not for me but for someone who is interested in pottery) to use.

5.0 out of 5 starsI have been wanting to do pottery and kept putting it off. Here came a nice kit that lets you try it out and see how it works and whether you like doing it. I liked it, and plan to do a lot more. This is a great kit for finding out. It has everything you need to create you first pot.

4.0 out of 5 starsI’ve thrown on many of these small, cheap wheels and this one is sturdy in comparison to most. Most of those other small wheels aren’t branded, come in bright colors, and will just stop with any centering pressure with even the smallest lump of clay. This one actually spins with the full 3 lbs it comes with and you can work with that amount, but I think it’s better with 1-2 lbs of clay. The wheel does get a little bogged down with all three lbs. One to two pounds is enough to make a small mug or a bowl. I did not use the air-dry clay as I didn’t want to get it mixed up in my workspace. I used my usual cone 6 clay. The Lamborghini wheels in the portable wheel space are the Shimpo Aspire or Speedball Artista, and this one is less than 1/3 the cost. To compare them is unfair, but those wheels will center more clay and spin at higher rates than you’ll get with this small wheel. That being said, if you’re not sure if you’ll like to throw or not, this one will probably be fine to get your feet wet and make small things.I think the centering arm and opening attachments are interesting ideas, but I couldn’t quite get the hang of them. I know a disabled potter who uses a similar device to the centering arm, so they have a place in pottery for sure. The instructions and videos provided are great places to start your pottery journey. You won’t be able to make functional pottery with the air-dried clay (no mugs to drink out of) or without a kiln, but you can make some fun decorative pieces and you can use ceramic clay with this wheel too. The air-dried clay can help you see if you really even like pottery before you make an investment in a kiiln or take a class.Keep in mind that pottery is a messy hobby!

5.0 out of 5 starsThe wheel is packaged really well, so it shouldn’t be damaged in shipping. The instructions include a QR code that gets you to a whole lot of videos. These are really good and helpful for setting it up, how it works, how to use it, things about the clay and what to do with clay…. all kinds of stuff. It seems pretty sturdy, and I expect it to hold up under reasonably normal usage. It came with air dry clay, which is what my daughter used.Do make sure that you are using this in a place that is okay to get wet, as you are supposed to use a lot of water while working with this (which does help a lot) and it is messy! It comes with some decent clay tools that will help (and there are videos that show how to use them.)

5.0 out of 5 starsThis is a good set for beginners. I got this for my 11, 13, 4 year old to try pottery and see if they are interested and then from there we can go take some classes. It comes with the clay to start with, instructions are clear after reading them a few times. It’s fun for when kids come over for playdates because not very kids have actually done this.
