The button features are very convenient, like It better them pushing the handle down. My last toaster with handle lasted about a year in a half, the handle got stuck and would not work. Hoping this one last longer.

I really like this toaster, and here’s why: it has wider slots, which are perfect for all my toasting needs. The bagel function? Absolutely amazing! And cleaning? It’s as easy as pie. Boasting a 1-year warranty, this compact-sized marvel has truly won my heart. So if you’re on a quest for the perfect toaster, you might just have found it. You can thank me later!

This is the only toaster my men have never broken the handle on. I bought the Breville because of the push button function. We use it daily and it is still working great since 2004.

Well made and compact

I have purchased many toasters over my lifetime but the last few years it seems any toaster I tried just didn’t give me the results I wanted. Well, that was before I got the Breville Toaster. It works so well. The features it has are outstanding. Push a button and you can “take a peek”, is it done enough? No, then down the slice goes down for a little more toasting time. This toaster is a little more pricey than some toasters but the old adage you get what you pay for holds true. I highly recommend it.

I had my Cuisinart toaster for nearly 20 years. And then the push lever wouldn’t stay down. I tried to fix it, but it was time to go. I initially replaced it with the same thing, but the current quality was a bit lower in some aspects. So, I spent some time figuring out what kind of toaster I wanted in 2024.The person I was 20 years ago has evolved with a little more money and the same great taste. I decided on this Breville. It was between this one and the one with the pushdown lever. I decided to spend the extra for the neat-o automatic up and down feature.Design-wise, this looks stunning in my kitchen, and probably will in your kitchen too. It’s easy to use: just pick a toast setting from 1 to 5, then hit toast. Your bread automatically will go down on its own and a light-up countdown starts to happen to let you know when it’ll be ready. Once done, your bread slowly rises back up. If it’s not done enough for you, you can hit “a bit more” for a touch longer toasting.Overall, it’s impressive. In my head, I want this toaster to last forever, but I already see a few flaws that could happen down the line. 1) The LED lights could stop working over time; this isn’t that big of a deal for me. And 2) The automatic up and down mechanism could stop working and there would be no way to toast at that point. I know these things could happen, but I got this anyway because the joy of using this is worth the cost. I will update this review when the toaster eventually gives out, which I hope it won’t for 20 years.

This is a really great purchase because it came with a 1-year warranty that puts my mind at ease. One touch automation? Yes, please! It’s not every day you find a toaster that practically does all the work for you. And the easy cleaning? That’s music to my lazy Sunday mornings. It’s safe to say, I’m head over heels for this little kitchen marvel!

Best toaster we’ve ever owned! Love the automatic buttons for checking the toast, adding more time, frozen and Bagel features. Yes, you’re paying more, but to me, it’s been worth it.

This product is really great, I mean, toasters are pretty handy gadgets but this one! And the bagel function? I’m on cloud nine every breakfast time. The LED indicator is a nice touch too. And did I mention the compact size? It neatly fits into my crowded kitchen counter. It’s like this little guy was born to toast and nothing else!

Ordered this toaster hoping that this would be a better toaster than cheaper models that dont work very good. First of all the product is advertised as diecast stainless steel but when i opened the box it was not stainless steel but injection molded plastic in a mat finish made to look like stainless ! Next the first time i used it one side of the toaster that holds the bread in place did not work. Next it did not toast very even so I returned it and bought a cheaper GE toaster for a third of the price that worked much better. This toaster is not a very good value for the price paid !

This is my first use with this thing. I love the function, the easy up and down and everything about it.

The Breville Smart Toaster 2 Slice BTA820XL performs very well on sliced bread, English muffins, and bagels. The outer heating elements seem to brown sliced bread a bit more completely than the inner elements, but nothing to fret about. The picture of the toast shows the coverage on the outward facing side; the piece still in the toaster shows that it is not 100% covered on the inner side. Nice features to allow you to “peak” before timing out, or add a few more seconds if desired. Cleaning is easy. Rated #1 toaster on Consumer Rports for a reason!

My first Breville toaster only lasted 2 years, but I bought another. They are expensive but are the very best!

I’ve been a solid fan of this product. It’s not every day you find a toaster with 5 settings, it’s no less than a breakfast game-changer. One touch automation – it feels like the future is here in my kitchen. The variable browning control, it’s like having a personal chef for my toasts. So yes, it’s safe to say, I have been toasted, I mean, toasted to perfection by this little gem!
Dennis A Rollason –
absolutely a great piece of equipment

I love Breville products. They last a long time

So far, I have really enjoyed using this piece of kitchen wizardry. The 5 settings are like music to my ears… or should I say, toast to my taste buds? I can set it to lightly warm my bagel, or toast my sourdough to a perfect golden brown. It’s like having a personal chef for my breads!

One side of each slide stops working completely. I contacted Breville through their website, but there was no response.

its a rip off for that amount of money
Just received this toaster 2 days ago and love it. So far so good! –
Love it, best toaster to date…

Second one I’ve purchased. First from Breville, second from Amazon. This one doesn’t toast evenly or even both sides of the same bread evenly. Lot money for poor results.
Darlene Hunt –
I bought one of these from a Goodwill 6 years ago and loved it now I have a brand new one this is the best toaster I’ve ever owned
Korey –
Toaster is just dead. For this price should last many more. Years! While worked it was pretty good. to replace with similar model it is now 159$ vs what the 120$ I paid 2years ago. Not happening, not worth the risk of the next one only lasting a couple of years!

The unique thing about this toaster is the power bread lowering and raising feature. There’s nothing spring loaded to push-down or pull-up. It’s all done by a silent electronic actuator. Pretty cool.I would give it five stars except that the lowest cooking time isn’t quite low enough. If I put Brioche hamburger buns in it they are always burned even on the lowest setting in bagel mode. I assume it’s because of the high sugar and fat content in Brioche, but still, this expensive toaster should be able to adapt to all situations IMO.

lots of great upgrades! I recommend

This is our third toaster in as many weeks after suffering with a Kitchen Aid that did not toast evenly or well and a Cuisinart that had a bagel setting that did nothing more than extend the toasting on both sides. I’m cheap and had hoped to find an inexpensive toaster that worked well. This isn’t inexpensive but it really works well. I’ve only had it a short time but so far so very, very good.
