1.0 out of 5 starsThis is extremely fast drying plaster and my kid was unable to keep up with the popsicle stick provided in the kit. Maybe if a stronger tool was provided it could possibly work. We poured the plaster in small increments as the instructions stated. The plastic got too thick too quick and too heavy for the popsicle stick. The box says it is for 8+ but my kid couldn’t keep up with stamina and strength required for mixing so I had to take over (which I felt bad about in an attempt to salvage it). I also feel like maybe 1 cup of water might not be enough. We were able to get the mix pretty smooth but it was still too thick to pour (milkshake consistency)

2.0 out of 5 starsMy daughter has a project due we ordered this so she could have it ready. Well it’s been 48hrs and it’s still not setting up in the mold. Now I have to drive 45 min to get something so her project will be on time. Disappointing

1.0 out of 5 starsOrdered this for a classroom project with my students. The volcano mold was warped and had gaps between the mold sections. Unfortunately, gaps were not visible until plaster was added. (Even after adding rubber bands to secure mold in place as instructions stated) i checked before adding the plaster to make sure all gaps had closed but Once plaster was added to the mold, it leaked EVERY WHERE

3.0 out of 5 starsI’ve bought these kits for my students for the last 7 years. In the recent years, the quality has dropped dramatically and the volcano molds have gotten noticeably smaller. Along with so many things – price has gone up, quality has gone down. I’ll be going a different route for next year’s volcano unit.

5.0 out of 5 starsEasier and neater to use than the ones that come in the bag they are not as deep and the opening is a little wider. I think they are about 1/3 of a cup. At first, I thought getting one would be a waste but now I’m happy I have it

5.0 out of 5 starsBought this activity to do with young boys I take care of. They loved making and decorating the Volcano with me, although most steps with the plaster had to be done by adults (me). The explosion part was their favorite and it all worked smoothly when I followed the directions. Highly recommend for volcanic fun at home.

5.0 out of 5 starsWe’ve used all the solution that came with this but we are still using the volcano over and over because my kids love the chemical reaction

2.0 out of 5 starsI bought this for my son’s school project but it was a complete disappointment. First of all the mold is tiny. More like a hill than a volcano. And you only get enough plaster for one volcano. The plaster is incredibly hard to get the right consistency. We did the exact measurements and ours just ran through the seams of the mold and made an outright mess. The kit was pretty much useless. Next time I’ll just use Play-Doh.

3.0 out of 5 starsOk, so as an activity, it’s great. The volcano experiment works well. The warning is it takes days for the plaster to set. So there is no way you’re making the volcano, painting it, and showing off lava in the same afternoon. You’ve got to plan ahead with this one, which can be difficult if your preschooler wants to see lava the same day they built the volcano.
