4.0 out of 5 starsPower up and notice a whole row of pixels on the small front screen is out. Throws up a red line all the way down… a shame cuz its the small screen and its new! Havent even hax a chance to power the battery to 100%…Maybe from a $65 camera, but not this.Update: Amazon immediately replaced the item with another new Action 4. Out of the box front display is working great! Does still overheat in webcam mode plugged into computer, after battery level reaches 100%.

1.0 out of 5 starsThe price on these Action 4 cams have dropped significantly in price since the beginning of 2024. I’m pretty sure I know the reason why. The built in software for formatting SD cards is flaky at best. No issues if your planning on downloading videos on a Mac. But downloading to windows is another story. Half the time windows doesn’t recognize the SD card format and therefore won’t read the card. Something happens when a few clips are recorded rendering the card unreadable. This happens on multiple Action 4 cams I tested, windows 10 or 11, and on multiple brands of SD cards. Your only option is to reformat the card, thereby deleting all videos you just took. I have spent many hours with DJI on this issue, doing extensive testing, sending in SD cards and camera. Rather than fixing the issue, they claim I must buy a specific SD card from a short list of cards shown on their website. Most are under 64Gig. I have been using nothing but professional grade SD cards, like Sandisk Extreme Pro and Samsung Pro Plus. Yet, DJI tells me the reason for this format issue is because I am using the ‘wrong’ type of SD card. Again, no issues for mac users. So for you windows users out there, look elsewhere if you need a sports action cam.

4.0 out of 5 starsI had problems with the camera turning off every 5 minutes but it seem to have resolved after resetting. Still giving 4 stars for the inconvenience but everything else is good!

4.0 out of 5 starsPleasantly surprised of how much better these are over GoPro…These take way more punishment and the batteries last a whole lot longer. The fast recharging is pretty neat too.DJI gets a 4.5/5.0Amazon gets 0/5 for bad customer service and horrible delivery persons.First purchase they delivered an empty box. Then when I contacted Customer Service they told me they could refund my CC. But instead gave me a gift card without my knowledge(Middle of March). They also had changed the checkout UI where it said using one of your uploaded cc’s or payment methods. But under that in very tiny print it showed your gift card . But not if youre using it or not. After that mess I decided to just use the Gift Card and buy another ( I went to Best Buy to purchase after Amazon dropped the ball) this is my 2nd. I just received it this morning or rather had to walk to my neighbors, as I stood on the sidewalk and the delivery driver walked past me and placed it on my neighbors doorstep. I cant make this up! So Amazon gets 0/5, so sick of this and other issues I cancelled my Prime membership, total waste of money. Today is Apr-8-2024

1.0 out of 5 starsExtremely Disappointed – No Facebook Live Support: IMPOSSIBLE TO LIVESTREAM ON FACEBOOK WITH DJI OSMO ACTION 4I purchased the DJI Osmo Action 4 primarily for live streaming to Facebook, but I’ve been utterly let down by the lack of this crucial feature. Despite DJI’s claims that it would be supported, the inability to live stream to Facebook has persisted since the camera’s release with no resolution in sight.I naively believed DJI when they said the lack of Facebook Live compatibility was just a temporary issue that would be addressed. However, months later, it remains completely impossible to live stream to Facebook using this camera – not even via RTMP. I’ve tried every suggested workaround to no avail. As an live streamer, this missing functionality is a dealbreaker. I ended up also purchasing a GoPro Hero 12 which has no problems streaming to Facebook Live out of the box. I cannot believe DJI continues to sell this camera while misrepresenting its live streaming capabilities.Save yourself the frustration and disappointment. If Facebook Live streaming is a priority for you, avoid the Osmo Action 4 and opt for another camera that properly supports the platform. I feel terribly misled by DJI over this and wish I had just gone with the GoPro from the start. Extremely poor showing from a company of DJI’s caliber.

5.0 out of 5 starsThe Dji Action 4 is a brilliant camera. Touch screen functions are easy to understand. I use the camera on my motorbike and I must say the “Rock Steady” settings really perform well. You will require the necessary accessories to use the camera should you only purchase the camera separately.Luv this camera to bits!

5.0 out of 5 starsThis has exceeded my expectations. It has a really good picture quality and is waterproof.I have looked very hard to compare it with the GoPro and all I came up with, is to get this one. I did and I’m glad.I use it primarily for diving and have done some experimenting (not much yet). It has great quality for videos day or night. The only bad or drawback is their app, it needs some work to get it perfect and easy.

1.0 out of 5 starsBought Camera for a trip to the Bahamas. After less than 20 minutes of our very first underwater recordings, the camera got water inside. The battery got incredibly hot and begun releasing a terrible smell. Also our SD card full of memories got ruined. Have yet to contact support but now we have no SD card, deleted memories and no underwater camera for the rest of the trip.

4.0 out of 5 starsThere are plenty of reviews, so I’ll just add that for me the image stabilization was impressive. Mounting it on a bike and riding over bumpy roads still gave a smooth result. The biggest problems were 1) the lack of a saveable zoom setting, everything not up close is FAR away, and 2) the dynamic range is poor – when the sky/clouds are right, the shadows at ground level are too dark and you lose detail. Overcast days make for dark videos and I’m not into fiddling with settings for changing cloud cover. 3) Facing toward the sun, even if it’s high overhead, will result in a nasty streak in the picture. Some things can be fixed in an editor, but the overall quality is hit or miss.

5.0 out of 5 starsAfter having a GoPro7 Black it was time for a new action camera. We use it for YouTube. After a lot of online research I settled on the DJI Action 4. It is a fantastic camera—less expensive than GoPro12, better at low light video, easy to set up and use, great video quality, and less likely to freeze or overheat, compared to a Go Pro. Happy with the purchase and it arrived in 24 hrs!

1.0 out of 5 starsI just purchased this camera only to find out that you cannot install the DJI app from the Google Play Store. You have to download a separate APK file from DJI website and install it on your Android phone. This is a huge security risk. Google around to find more details. Amazon won’t let me post here.

1.0 out of 5 starsSeemed like a really nice camera. Unfortunately you have to download an app that isn’t available through the play store. It can only be downloaded onto certain models of phones. I gave up and returned it. I’m not comfortable giving all of my info and videos to a suspicious app that I have to go to a website to get. Not to mention my phone isn’t even capable of downloading the app if I wanted to.

5.0 out of 5 starsIt’s about time action cameras start actually being great. This thing has nearly a 1″ sensor which gives it remarkably detailed image quality…and that’s just the beginning of the many good things this camera has to offer.Battery life is really good. I generally shoot in 4k 30fps open gate, and you can expect at least an hour and a half of continuous recording. The batteries can be recharged quick, too. They can go from dead to full in less than an hour. The Rocksteady image stabilization works well, but I prefer to use the gyro data that’s captured in the “wide” field of view to stabilize the video in post. For either of those options to work properly, you have to keep the shutter speed at 1/200 or faster. Luckily, there’s plenty of options to either set the shutter speed and iso to a fixed setting, or you can select from a range of speeds and iso. 10 bit color and a Log profile gives you plenty of flexibility when it comes to color grading.A few negatives would be the stabilization and gyro data being worthless at slow shutter speeds. If there’s motion blur captured in the individual frame, there’s gonna be ghosting when you try to stabilize it. That’s just the way it goes. So while this camera does have impressive low light performance, you’re pretty much limited to the camera being on a tripod, or gimbal and leaving the stabilization off. I also wish there was a way to select on the screen where you want the camera to set the exposure from in the auto modes. It seems to adjust according to the brightest thing in frame, which on a cloudy day is the sky, so if you have the sky in frame, the camera will adjust the exposure to that which makes everything else in the image underexposed. This problem becomes even more apparent on partly cloudy days…All in all, this camera is awesome despite it’s drawbacks. One other thing that seems kinda shady is you need to install an app just to get the camera to work. It’s probably loaded with Chinese spyware, but oh well. What can ya do?

5.0 out of 5 starsExcellent picture quality, plenty of features, waterproof( worked great at the bottom of my pool).I use it primarily for timelapse videos and while you need to do some experimenting to get what you want, you have automatic settings, user presets and manual modes so you can make great timelapse videos day or night. the app needs some improvements. The biggest drawback is not being able to preview a timelapse in progress, there is at least 1 other brand that has that feature but their picture quality is horrible ( I’ll trade convenience for picture quality everytime). Maybe someday that feature will be available which would make this little camera perfect. Still giving it 5 stars as everything else about the Osmo is top notch!

2.0 out of 5 starsAfter long looking forward to action cam fun, awesome steady shots and water shots, and having done my homework the DJI Action was the best, I finally got it, and wouldn’t you know it requires to be activated by a 500MB app that won’t run on my older phone, or the camera will not operate. Of course most people don’t have an old phone and activate and use it just fine, but I say bunk. First the wisdom, what if it resets or something out in the field, and no internet means dead camera? Some people don’t use smartphones, or live out in the wild, and they can’t use a camera in that case? (And there is no PC activation alternative.) And sorry but that’s just creepy, you have to log in and get their approval before you can use your camera? I’m sure it’s just paranoia to have privacy concerns, even though the US banned an entire phone brand, Huawei, for national security concerns. I’m surprised I never heard or saw this once in any DJI Action review, but we can all trust YouTube.I got to use the camera five times before the permissions ran out and I returned it, and it’s a lot heavier than it looks, prohibitively so, like you wouldn’t clip it to your hat, and it gets hot, hotter than any camera I ever held, and that wasn’t even shooting, plus I got a continual large error message saying my SD card was too slow. The Insta360 also has that creepy “activate for your security” can’t use it otherwise bunk, and Gopro is mechanically lame and big, so currently my action cam dreams have blown away like the leaves of a Fall tree.

5.0 out of 5 starsI am a professional motor Vlogger and have always used GoPro. I got sick and tired of always having to reset and also the overheating. Don’t even get me started on the flip down legs when you’re using the medium mod and how you have to essentially disassemble the entire thing just to change the battery. I put a video of my comparisons up on Backdraft bikes on YouTube, so you can see the differences. The magnetic mount is a game changer. The battery boxes these come with are awesome. The batteries last way longer than GoPro. They don’t overheat. You can wirelessly connect DJI Mic 2 to it. I know this is a brief review, but trust me, you won’t regret going wrong with these. Also, I think the image stabilization is far superior as it doesn’t crop as much.
