I got a kit for me bday because I’ve been interested in starting different home brews and figured a kit would be good. They have very good instructions, except they say in bold not screw the caps on tight to make sure things don’t explode. I overcompensated and went too loose. the carbonation all escaped and I was left with vinegar. They just sent me a new kit free of charge and I’m excited to try it again! The root beer “tea” tasted amazing so I’m sure the end product when done right will as well.

This Craft A Brew – Root Beer Kit is more on the interesting scale. My husband and I don’t really drink root beer so it wasn’t something we wanted to drink but trying to make it together was interesting. Also were trying to figure out if we could create root beer that’s more diabetic friendly with our limited knowledge.

It costs way too much for this! The end product is not worth it!!!Update!I still don’t recommend this product, but they contacted me and gave me a refund!

I am only giving this a 3 start because of the experience. My granddaughter and I did this together and it was a lot of fun. As for the product, that a different story, it was not very flavorful, and there are 2 ways to produce the root beer, on just add seltzer water and the other is to carbonate it. We did both, it never carbonated. When I reached out to the company and explained my issue and check to see if it was possible to have an issue with the botanicals and/or Yeast, they were helpful, basically were like oh well. They did however imply I must have done something wrong. I would like to try making this again however 100% will not be with this company!!!,

The instructions were very clear, and it’s very delicious.

The product itself was fine well packaged, however, was missing two items out of the package. This was a Christmas gift.and I had to return it and order a new one before the product could be used.

It didn’t work out may try again

Was just what I was hoping for. My wife used to make root beer with her dad when she was young. Kit was great to use and made her remember her childhood and was exactly like she remembered

Very unique tast… feel as though steeping time should be increased or the botanicals were not fresh do not use selter water as the ratio gives you a very flat rootbeer!

Some root beer kits are essentially mixing syrup with carbonated water. This is the real deal, using natural ingredients to brew a root beer concentrate and then carbonating with yeast, or optionally using seltzer water. It’s a fun project and not too complicated. If you have kids old enough (I don’t) I can see it being a fun weekend project. It also shows the history of root beer, and why craft root beers taste different than the regular stuff at the grocery store (hint: artificial flavors). Since all the ingredients are preportioned, the outcome is a good tasting root beer. There are several opportunities to shortcut the process if you desire – like the aforementioned yeast vs. seltzer water option, and whether to caramelize sugar to start and get a more complex flavor or skip it and have a simpler result. For maximum enjoyment I’d recommend doing all the steps (though the yeast does create a small amount of alcohol). If you think about it in terms of dollars per ounce of root beer, it’s certainly expensive. You could load up on several types of fancy craft root beer for the same money and pick a favorite. If you think about it in terms of entertainment and education value, it’s less expensive than an afternoon at the science museum and buying refreshments, and you have a delicious beverage to enjoy and even share as a result.I wouldn’t regularly make root beer this way for myself. But in a few years when my son is old enough to enjoy it, I would love to repeat this project and share the learning and satisfaction with him.

This is not just a bottle of concentrate you mix with water – it is a complete kit of barks and flavoring agents you mix to create your own signature brew. Great family activity.

This created great tasting root beer. It was an easy and fun project. Great quality.

I skipped the caramelization and used seltzer water. The steps were easy to follow and results in a sweet syrupy taste. Even with the seltzer water it seemed like it needed more carbonation to become real root beer. The kit should’ve included two plastic containers for the yeast carbonation option. I had only glass containers which you can’t use. The kit is overpriced for the amount of root beer it yields.

This home root beer brew kit looks fun for kids or adults that like root beer. It has everything you need.

I was under the impression it was like beer with lots of complicated gizmos and maybe even a barrel, like I’ve seen root beer barrels at the nearby brewery. But this is actually really easy. You need bottles that seal up, sterilized hopefully, this kit, and some time.Flavor was pretty good. I would prefer a stronger root beer but that’s something personal and not what a normal kit would offer. It tasted really good.

This root beer making kit is a super fun activity and it is really cool to see all the ingredients come together to make some delicious root beer. This would be a great activity to do with family or friends, if you like root beer and want to have the satisfaction of making your own I would totally recommend picking up this kit. I do wish it came with a bottle but not a huge deal.

This was a new experience for me, and I’m glad I did it. I’ve always been a root beer fan, so when I saw this I thought it’d be a ton of fun to try. It absolutely was. It was a bit challenging as I’ve never done anything like this before, but I enjoyed the experience. The root beer turned out well and I’m thinking about doing it again soon.

This root beer kit made some tasty root beer. It was neat to see all the base ingredients together like that. I have only made it from a syrup before. The flavor is spot on and tasty. It is a cool way to make a treat with your family.

This kit is slightly intimidating at first glance, but all in all it was pretty easy to do. The instructions are great and give you different options depending on how you want to tackle it. The herb mix smells great. We did this as a family and had a lot of fun with it.
