2.0 out of 5 starsI purchased this book early in the week from No Starch Press’ website and was excited to dive in to learning Fusion 360, something I’ve wanted to do since getting a 3D printer a little over a year ago. Unfortunately, this book makes for a poor introduction to Fusion 360 and will likely leave novice and new learners frustrated and confused.I am a pretty tech-savvy person, and have had minor exposure to CAD over the last decade in my career. Nevertheless, it didn’t seem to help with this book. The author speaks only vaguely of what buttons to click, often skipping over meaningful steps, and makes no attempts to explain the theory behind different aspects of 3D modeling. Truly, I found it shocking how little instructional material is in this book given its title. Even the early exercises involving making a box and a bead gloss over entire sub-steps that will leave readers scratching their head.The exercises in the book often left me confounded, with the author stating “do X here, then add Y” but X and Y were never touched on in any prior lessons or exercises. This slows the pace of learning down dramatically, because you are left Googling for how to do something or going to YouTube, at which point you have to ask: why am I even using this book?I own many No Starch books, most of which are about Python Programming, Data Science, and Math, and this book fails to hold a candle to any of them in terms of quality and educational value. How this book made it past the editors and reviews is beyond me.

I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out how to do stuff. While some of that is good, it took a lot longer then it should’ve if the author was more specific.
